New MO school guidelines concerning Covid-19 contacts announced

Missouri updated its COVID-19 quarantine guidelines for K through 12 schools throughout the state.

Under the new guidelines announced by Governor Mike Parson in a Thursday press conference, close contacts to COVID-19-positive cases would NOT have to quarantine as long as both parties were properly wearing masks at the time of exposure. The update only applies to school districts where masks are required.

The change in guidelines comes after educational leaders across the state, including Maryville superintendent Becky Albrecht, called for less strict quarantine rules due to low transmission rates and the disruption of learning that 14-day quarantines cause.
